Heat pump is a refrigeration machine which prioritizes on heating from the condensing process rather than the cooling on its evaporator. General heat pump can generate a maximum hot water temperature of around 60 to 70 degree Celsius. Compared with the same heating output, the heat pump consumes up to 5 times lower energy than the electric heater. While generating hot water, heat pump machines will absorb ambient heat from its evaporator side, therefore creating a cooling effect. The cooling can be utilized in various places such as hallway, corridor, elevator shaft. As a result, the cooling from the heat pump helps reduce Air Conditioning loads and its electricity consumption.
Similar to the refrigeration cycle, heat pump consists of four main components which are compressor, condensing unit, expansion valve, and evaporator unit. Heat is generated from the refrigerant that has been compressed. Compressed refrigerant will be releasing its heat to mediums like water or fresh air. Heat energy from the refrigerant will be transferred to the medium efficiently with an equipment called heat exchanger. The heated medium, if it is water, could be used directly into the shower mixing valve. After releasing its heat, the refrigerant is transformed into a condensed state and pushed through the expansion valve. The refrigerant is rapidly cooled down due to its thermodynamic properties. This process allows refrigerant to absorb the surrounding heat energy, hence evaporates the refrigerant back into a gas state.
