Economizer is an equipment used for capturing waste heat from Boiler exhaust. Boiler machine uses combustion of fuel and air to generate heat into mediums such as water, or thermal fluid. Heat is indirectly transferred into the medium and carried out through exhaust stack as new fuel and air mixture is heated. The amount of waste heat is varied with boiler efficiency and dew point of the exhaust air. Most of the exhaust air will have a temperature above 160 degree Celsius. This wasted heat can be used to pre-heat water feeded into the boiler and reduces its fuel consumption. With an economizer, boiler efficiency will be significantly increased.
Steam boilers generate steam by transferring heat energy from fuel combustion indirectly into the water and vaporize it. Fuel required oxygen within the air mixture to start a combustion. After the complete combustion, the by-product is a flue gas which contains a certain amount of leftover heat from the process. The waste heat is released out through the boiler's stack chimney.
